Maintenance for Service Duties

Cab 2 one of the air horns had broken away from the rusted through bracket. A temporary fix has been undertaken until a new bracket can be made and fitted.

33110 hauling the fleet down prior to its 'Santa' turn 28/11/15, D3452 also seen in the steam shed taking shelter from the heavy rain.

37142 has been missing a frost grill over the radiator shutter intake for some time, one recently acquired is in the process of being prepared for fitting to 37142

37142 now has a tarpaulin over the fan and radiator roof grill, hopefully to prevent the Cornish rain from pouring into this area over the winter.

With currently no available under cover space, only limited work is being undertaken on ‘The Sapper’ this month. Attempts to remove the boiler room blower motor are being thwarted by inaccessible bolts, removal is needed to get at the pipework and framework behind it to finish the boiler room preservation and paint out work started two years ago. Other work includes air filter cages removal, cleaning / painting with primer and air receiver’s in white undercoat and gloss.

Preparations are being made for 47306 to move into shed road 2 this week and during December/January.

The group’s snow ploughs that have been on long term loan to our friends at the SDR have been returned and the overhaul started on them. Does someone know something about this winter to come?

50042 is stabled in Parkway shed currently, staying warm and dry!
